Mekong Auto, established in 1991 under Investment License No. 208/GP had to face with lots of difficulties and had taken a great mission of setting up Cuu Long Auto Plant - a first auto plant in Vietnam. Mekong Auto had launched its first car assembled at Cuu Long Auto Plant on May 20th, 1992.
Mekong Auto‘s proud is of its first joint venture which specializes in automobiles manufacture and assembly in Vietnam, partly contributing to name Vietnam as 36th country in all over the world which have automobile industry.
Mr Sung Kyun Moon - the first Chairman of Mekong Auto, had sympathized with Vietnam, a country which had to suffered lots of continuously conquered wars, but had tried their strong best to develop through the RENOVATION POLICY, was persuaded to invest in field of automobile manufacture in Vietnam at the time that no foreign automobile investors had invested in Vietnam. Mekong Auto's first Chairman had a spirit of dealing with challenges, regardless of risk and hardness being occurred, Mekong Auto had opened its Cuu Long Auto Plant in 1992 and had launched its Mekong Stars- 4WD, the first vehicle assembled in Vietnam.
Technical Collaboration Agreements is Mekong Auto's great achievement which Mekong Auto has contributed to Vietnam Auto Industry. Particularly:
In 1992: with IVECO who is one of FIAT Corporation's member, specializing in commercial vehicles and having its distribution network located all over the world.
In 1995: with FIAT SPA (Italia), a leading auto manufacture in the world and with over 100 year of experience. -
In 1997: with SSANGYONG MOTOR (South Korea), who has experienced over 40 years to design and to manufacture four wheels vehicles.

Via technical collaboration agreements, we has partly contributed and developed a team of engineers, technical advisors, and experienced workers to Vienam Auto Industry which is newly formed and not developed, and has also helped end users of car in Vietnam having change to know vehicles/ cars of newest model which has met the state - of - art technical and commercial standards.
Being as the first joint venture whose vehicles/cars is firstly assembled in Vietnam, we are trying my best to be a pioneer in the automobile industry in Vietnam that is the reason for what we has not hesitated to invest in automobile industry in Vietnam and to be the first automobile manufacture who has brought painting industry of electronic deposition coatings into Vietnam.

Mekong Auto has, during its operation, signed series of technical collaboration agreements with international automobiles manufactures all over the world, continuously, to renovate, to make its products qualified and more model. As a result, MEKONG AUTO has launched its various cars/vehicles to market such as: 4WD, tourist cars, mini bus, public transport vehicles, big bus vehicles, van with closed door, truck of variety, special purpose vehicles such as ambulance vehicles, police cars, military cars, vehicles for construction, freezer van etc. that you can see anywhere.
